VMware announced a wide-ranging initiative to simplify multi-cloud adoption and expand its Cloud Services portfolio. As part of that effort, the enterprise software vendor and virtualization specialist enhanced various offerings on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, along with announcing an expansion to provide services in the AWS London region.
Along with rolling out the VMware Cloud on AWS service to the AWS London datacenter, VMware said it enhanced the enterprise functionality of the offering via initiatives such as new high-availability capabilities coming with Stretched Clusters. “Applications in VMware Cloud on AWS can take advantage of this high availability capability built directly into the infrastructure, without having to rewrite or refactor the application,” VMware exec Raghu Raghuram said in a blog post last week.
