The gambling expansion measure signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker in June will provide tax breaks for companies that build data centers in Illinois. Tyler Diers, director of legislative relations at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber has been pushing for Senate Bill 690 for the past six years.
āThe previous years, we didn’t get a lot of traction with it given the budget stalemate in Illinois with the previous administration and the General Assembly,ā Diers said. āThis year, we put a little bit more emphasis on this initiative and making it really something that we wanted to finally pass in the legislature.ā
