IBM Makes Takes Another Big Step To Hybrid Computing

While we (the tech industry) tend to talk about devices, on-premises servers, and cloud computing as if they are individual platforms, in reality, they are a single hybrid platform that works together over vast public and private networks. Every platform from the smartphone to the largest data centers are part of a hybrid computing environment.

Now, companies are rushing to take advantage of the flexibility and cost advantages by leveraging a combination of on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud resources in a hybrid fashion. At the same time, major technology and systems vendors are rushing to enable hybrid cloud environments. IBM, long a proponent of hybrid cloud solutions, just took another step by enabling some of the last of its platforms, IBM i and AIX, to leverage cloud services on IBM Cloud.
