In a session at the VMworld conference in San Francisco, VMware staff architect Ahmed Al-Buheissi and staff consulting architect Jason Carli delivered a technical case study that explained that one element of Project Fortify delivers virtual desktops (VDI) to CenITex staff and clients using VMware’s Horizon product.
CenITex prefers to deliver those desktops from on-premises infrastructure, but bursts into excess capacity delivered from VMware cloud on AWS when needed. Users notice no change if they’re using on-prem or cloud-hosted virtual desktops even though the workloads run in an AWS [cough] Sydney data centre.
